Sei in: La Rete Natura 2000 | Introduzione | The territory of Mountain Community Alta Val di Cecina sees the presence of an articulated network of Sites of Regional importance, whose natural value is today recognized by the European Union and Tuscany Region. Some of these areas were indeed recognized as Community's Heritage Sites and as Special Protection areas.
Overall, the sites host important habitats and forestal species (Monterufoli, Tatti - Berignone, Montenero, Caselli), still intact fluvial ecosystems (Fiume Cecina e Valle del Pavone), the particular geo-morphological aspects of the cliffs (Volterra) and geo-thermal fields (Sasso Pisano).
SIC: Sito di Importanza Comunitaria (Site of Community Importance)
SIR: Sito di Importanza Regionale (Site of Regional Importance)
